— Overview
Since flexible Press-Fit pins are stamped contacts, their cross-section is limited due to manufacturing constraints. The conventional geometry of commercially available contacts presents the following limitations:
- Electrical contact occurs mainly in the central portion of the hole;
- Only a limited part of the PCB thickness is effectively used as a contact surface.
This configuration results in a reduced current-carrying capability (up to 1A), making such solutions suitable for multi-pole connectors used in data transmission (signal lines).
The geometry of the >BROXING< PowerFlex pin has been specifically designed to overcome these limitations. In particular:
- The pin is shaped to ensure continuous contact along the entire PCB thickness;
- The entire inner surface of the plated through-hole is used as the electrical contact area.
Thanks to this optimized geometry and the significantly increased contact surface, the >BROXING< PowerFlex pin is capable of handling currents up to 20 A max, while ensuring high mechanical stability, low contact resistance, and long-term reliability. These specialized connectors are mainly used in applications such as fuse holders and relays, typically employed in the automotive sector.
