Rigid PressFit PowerClamps
— Overview
Rigid press-fit technology enables a hermetic cold-weld connection. The polygonal (non-square) geometry of the pins and press-fit spacer contacts prevents damage to the PCB hole metallization and avoids the direct transfer of insertion force from the housing to the PCB (a technology known as SOFTPRESS).
The advantages of press-fit connections compared to wave soldering are numerous:
- Capability to carry higher currents (up to 600 A);
- High resistance to vibrations;
- No thermal stress applied to the PCB;
- No post-soldering cleaning required;
- Long-term contact reliability;
- Possibility of mounting contacts from both sides of the PCB.
